Older resolved issues

1st Dec 2014, 4.30pm - Seiretto client area and renewals - planned maintenance:
Update to our database and back-end systems - client area: https://www.seiretto.co.uk/clientarea/ and renewals section.  It is estimated to take around 10 minutes.  Completed: 4.35pm.

25th Oct 2014 - 23:00 - Designer servers - network update

The maker of our network equipment (Juniper) have recommended that a firmware update is done within 12 hours of yesterday's issue to prevent the same issue occurring again. As there is currently no redundant pair in use, this will unfortunately need to be done while offline which will take 10-15 minutes.  We have been informed that the new firmware will resolve the issues seen over the last couple of days.

Completed 23:10.  It is also confirmed that our core switching is now operating as a redundant pair again.  We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

24th Oct 2014 - 13:40 - Designer servers

We are aware of an issue preventing connectivity to the data centre at this time.
Engineers are now onsite correcting the network connection failure. Corrected 14:15.

16th Sept 2014 - 1am.  Network switch maintenance.

During this maintenance loss of network connectivity is likely to happen whilst we reconfigure the switches in the rack. This is necessary to restore the maximum throughput these switches can achieve its full capacity. The downtime estimate:  10 - 20 minutes in total during this period. This maintenance is being performed in a way that if any issues occur, or the allotted timeframe is exceeded, we can roll back the configuration and restore service within a couple of minutes.18th August 2014 - 10pm - Network upgrade - improved attack prevention and mitigation

The core network at the facility will be replaced with more powerful hardware, it is already in place and our network team have been extensively testing configurations over the past few weeks alongside the existing infrastructure. We are pleased to now be able to go ahead with these major changes which will increase capacity on the network and add several additional layers to prevent and mitigate incoming attacks on the network.

The work is estimated to take around 4 hours, during this time there may be periods where network connectivity is impacted which, unfortunately, cannot be avoided. However we have scheduled this out of business hours to reduce impact.

12th Sept 2014 - re-scheduled - upgrade to PHP 5.4.x (also will include: PHP 5.5.x).

We have already updated the PHP Selector cPanel plugin. If you are happy to use PHP 5.4 after the upgrades are complete, you do not need to do anything at this stage.

Incompatibilities between 5.4.x and the 5.3.x branch can be found here: http://uk.php.net/migration54

To retain PHP 5.3 for your website follow these steps:

1. Log in to cPanel and navigate to 'Software/Services -> PHP Version Manager'
2. If you wish to change the version for all sites:
Select '[ PHP 5.3 - Change ]' next to the 'Current Directory: /home/<username>/public_html'
If you wish to change the version for any particular folders / subsites only:
Select '[ PHP 5.3 - Change ]' next to the folder in question
3. On the next screen, select PHP 5.3 as the version you wish to use and click SAVE.

Note the release of PHP 5.6 is imminent therefore PHP 5.4 will also become End of Life in the near future.
Thursday 19th June 2014 - 23:00, estimated down-time around 30 minutes.

Hardware emergency maintenance will be performed on our reseller servers.

Monday 7th April 2014 - from: 22:00 to 23:59
Please be advised: important maintenance to several of our network switches will be performed during the time shown above, which will affect our reseller accounts. The updates to firmware on the switches are anticipated to create around 10 minutes downtime per rack whilst these updates are completed.

10am 15th March 2014 - Reseller server high load - experiencing a high load which may be causing some issues with stability and access. The matter is currently under investigation and further information will follow as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience in this matter. 10.20am - system reboot, all systems now back online.

31st Jan 2014.

PHP 5.2 is being removed from the reseller servers. All websites must be fully compatible with PHP 5.4 (or 5.3 at minimum) which is the latest version and already available. If your site is not compatible with 5.3 it may stop working (please check with your software developer if this is the case).

6am 26th Nov 2013 - Network upgrades to equipment and whilst we expect no disruption, services should be considered at risk during this maintenance window; possible affected servers include: VPS, Premier, Small business and Starter hosting accounts.

Sept 2013 - Hybrid servers (mid night to 3am)

12th April 2013 - Access to WordPress Admin

We are seeing increased traffic to a large number of WordPress sites on our shared hosting platform. The attack is not unique to ourselves and is affecting many hosting providers worldwide. Many providers have blocked access to the Admin area of WordPress altogether, however we do not want to take this approach as it will also prevent you from administering your own website. Instead, when accessing your WordPress Admin Area you may find that you are prompted for a username and password not previously required.

As soon as normal service is resumed, this prompt will be removed and the above credentials will no longer be required. We appreciate your patience during this time, and we will update this page once this has been resolved.

10th April 2013 (after 6pm) Upgrade MySQL on UK reseller severs. Downtime should be minimal.

1pm 18th Feb 2013 - web78 reboot - We are currently rebooting this server after a system crash. We expect to have it working again soon, and apologise for any inconvenience caused. 13:08 - This has now been resolved.

No downtime is expected, other than a brief restart of the web server, which should be complete in just a few seconds. The work is likely to take several hours, so the restart could happen any time between 6pm and 11pm.

7am, 7th Nov 2012 - upgrade to web servers to MySQL 5.5 for Small Business and Premier accounts.
Only affecting websites for around 10 minutes - apologies for any inconvenience caused.

3.30pm, 15th Oct 2012 - some servers are currently returning: Forbidden errors, we are working to correct this. Only affecting HTTP access for Premier, Small business and Starter accounts. Corrected at 4.45pm.

15th Oct 2012 - due to work completed during last weekend to improve the security of the EU servers email/ftp must now be reconfigured as below:

EU ONLY - EMAIL config:

Ensure the connection to SSL/TLS for incoming and outgoing mailservers.

Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) mail.seiretto.eu
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) mail.seiretto.eu (server requires authentication) port 465

If prompted when checking the new secure connection you may need to confirm and: "Add security exception" when the setup is complete.

If the above fails then we suggest you setup a new account within Outlook and ensure you select SSL. There are details on how to do this here:
http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/cc188651.aspx

Mon, 15 Oct 2012 23:00:00 +0100 - we plan to make upgrades to the connectivity of kvmhost39, kvmhost42, kvmhost40, kvmhost41, kvmhost35, kvmhost36, kvmhost37, kvmhost38, kvmhost27 and kvmhost28. This will increase the bandwidth capabilities for the server and each host using them.

At the above time and date, kvmhost27 will be rebooted for important updates.

All VPSes on this host will be properly shutdown and rebooted following the updates.

We apologise for the downtime these necessary updates will incur.

*Update* 01:35
The work and reboot has now completed, each VPS will now be booting up as normal.

20th July 2012, from 9pm - UK Designer/reseller accounts - PHP update on all servers, from 5.3.13 to 5.3.14.

There should be no interruption to service, however as the work is being done on components critical to PHP based sites this period should be considered at risk. The work will cause slightly higher than normal load on the servers and may involve a restart of the web server.

In the worst cast scenario (such as a failed compile) the installer will restore a backup of the current working configuration.

No module or configuration changes will be made to the PHP stack and scripts should not notice any difference. You can view the PHP change log on the php.net site (http://php.net/ChangeLog-5.php).
