Easy Referrals - continued success

We had our first referral within hours of the new program going live in August and this earned the referrer several months free hosting and giving the new account holder 10% off the new account. So we can report it has been a great success, and we are continuing to receive new clients via the program.

NEW search engine hits the Internet: cuil.com

Have ex-Google employees built the next generation of search engine or does it just look "cool"?

"Cool" NEW
search engine!

CUIL, or "cool" as they pronounce it, looks great and may offer a brilliant alternative to the monopolising force Google has become. They boast of having a search index which is three times larger than Google's, but does size really matter?

According to Diggers it seems they have a good deal of improvements to make:

And this view is also shared by the many comments made on the BBC blog:

Recession busters - what continues to make money and why?

You will already know from the media that we are heading into a recession (or maybe), which will impact upon the business bottom-line. It does not seem to be affecting many of our clients!

We host several high volume ecommerce websites and these are continuing to increase their online sales; as is always the case some are doing better than others... But what continues to reap greater rewards and why?

The UK population is "Cocooning"!

It maybe the type of products they are selling fit the new lifestyles of todays buyers. People are not so much "couch-potatoes" anymore, more like "computer-potatoes". They use their computer for everything from looking up the weather and check what their favourite celebrity did last night, to ordering a take-away which is more the norm as we stay in watching the latest DVDs on our home big screen entertainment systems.

All this means we are all staying in doors for longer periods. As Faith Popcorn termed it we are all "Cocoon" like to save money:

Staying at home maybe but people are gregarious so still need to fill that hole, in steps the social networking websites.

Search engines are no longer the main source of traffic

Whether its caused by a recession or just a change in the way people interact, more and more users are shifting towards social networking websites. In "May 2008, social links including StumbleUpon, Digg, Del.icio.us

Search engines are not the only source of traffic

and many others, were added across much of HotScripts. Since then, social media traffic to HotScripts has climbed by over 250%." (July 2008, HotScripts.com).

It seems its time to ensure you are exploiting this new potential traffic/revenue stream.Time to mix business with pleasure, maybe.

Leisure does well in a recession

Leisure does well in a recession!
"When times are hard you have to satisfy people's emotional needs beyond just value... In the last recession in the early 1990s one of the things that was successful was Häagen-Dazs ice cream. It was luxurious in its sector, but it wasn't hugely expensive and so was an affordable treat."(business.timesonline.co.uk).
Cup of tea anyone?

Also, with the change in demographics within the UK it would be wise to consider products which target the over-fifties...
Or as the many families become cash-strapped they search for ways to generate income. So resellers of Endowment insurance policies do well as these are traded in.

Going backwards

The use of older methods is not always negative: Interesting to see how haulage are still prospering by going into reverse and moving onto the rails:

Online businesses are winning the selling game

However, most traditional businesses have been struggling to compete with new online companies, and continue to lose trade to these new competitors.

For those companies which have not yet moved online they will lose out to their online competitors. And those businesses that fail to provide a simple method for customers to purchase their goods online will also be the losers as the online battle intensifies.

If you know of a business that is not yet online urge them to get online. We can host their website for as little as per year which includes a new .co.uk domain name.

Easy Referrals released

"Seiretto is a web hosting company formed in 1996. As we are an established host many of our clients that have hosted with us for several years; I wanted a way of repaying those clients at the same time as allowing new referred customers a discount.  So in August 2008 our Easy Referrals was released which currently gives away a total of 21% of the value of new orders.  This is automated and shared between the new and existing clients.  The unique referral program enables clients to gain FREE hosting, AND at the same time award discounts to friends and colleagues on our hosting services."
Dave Walker - Managing Director Seiretto Ltd.

For more details on how the program works and how both existing clients and
new customers benefit see:
