AI unintentional bias, and intentional bias.

AI has changed so much since I studied it at Uni 30 yrs ago.
The difficulties were then mainly speed of processing and access to large
enough data sets. Today those are not issues, but bias is and will
continue to be.
When unintentional bias is found within AI systems this is
largely due to human data sets being confined to small samples and/or
restricted data sets being used. But intentional bias within AI is the worse type of
system manipulation. For example Alexa seeming unable to realise Amazon is a monopoly
whilst it can happily diss its competitors:

Also, another area AI is creeping into what is now being called
Microdirectives, the future just aint bright:

well worth reading the comments too.
Eventually this is going to affect us all. Recall when Uber were in deep water some time ago with automated firing
of drivers:

Apprehensive at first, but having used the account now for several
months I can say it is working well and I glad to say I have not had any
issues.
Why the change from Santander to Starling? When I removed the
Limited status of the company I did not intend to encounter additional
charges from Santander, but they stated that the company name change meant
they could no longer provide free banking. I had no intention of using
them any longer, as it was supposed to have been free business banking for
life. So after 20yrs I searched for a new bank and found Starling;
mixed reviews as always, but in the main seemed fine.
I can say I
would recommend them for free business banking, they are fine for my
business banking.
Check they are right for you before you try them:
